After the tragedy in Oslo and Utøya people started to cover the city senter with flowers. An 'Ocean of flowers' began to grow outside the Oslo Cathedral.
The flowers and greetings are symboles of sorrow, in memory of and hope.

Today it was a terribel bomb attack in Oslo center at the government building and shooting at kids at a youth camp at Utøya outside Oslo.

World Ski Championship in Oslo 2011: VM-SHOW AND MEDAL CEREMONY

Every evening during the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship there was free entertainment in the centre of Oslo. There were outdoor conserts and a medal cermony at a large spectacular stage at the University Square.

Thursday 24th of February, the same day as the norwegian cross country skier Marit Bjørgen won here first Gold medal in Ladies Sprint during the championship there was a great show on stage with the norwegian designers of Moods of Norway, dancers and several famous norwegian artist. The artists Madcon, Arve Tellefsen, Ralph Myerz, Satyricon, Mariann Rosa and Wenche Myhre performed.

I was lucky to borrow the newest Canon telezoom lens EF 70-200 mm f/2,8 L IS II USM from Canon this evening. It was great to try, and I really wish I had that lens!!

World Ski Championship in Oslo 2011: SKI-JUMPING IN HOLMENKOLLEN

Ski Jumping "Large hill, team Men" 5th of March in Holmenkollen during the World Ski Champioship in Oslo. Norway came on second place this time, Austria first and Slovenia third. Total Norway won most medals of all the participating countries during the championship; 8 gold medals, 6 silver and 6 broze.

Giant ice sculptures in Karl Johan street in the city senter during the World Ski Championship in Oslo februar and march this year. 30 artist collaborated to create 8 ice innstallations inspired by the norwegian artist Edvard Much.

Afternoon at the Opera

The scuplture She Lies by Monica Bonvicini, in front of the Opera, unveiled 10th May 2010.

"A Monument to a state of permanent change." (Monica Bonvicini)

She Lies is a monumental sculpture built out of stainless steel and glass panels that measure approximately 12 x 17 x 16 m. The piece is permanently installed and floats amidst the fjord on the water. By turning around its own axis in correspondence to the tides, the sculpture offers changing views through the reflections on the mirrored and semitransparent surfaces.

Bonvicini's sculpture is a three dimensional interpretation of Caspar David Friedrich's painting Das Eismeer, 1823-24. It is particularly referring to the central motive of the work: the massive piles of ice that function as a symbol for power and magnificence of the north.

"The synthesis of structure/skin/ornament explore the interface between nature and culture, or that of a cultural artefact. While reconstructing a famous Romantic painting, the work represents in a visual striking way the shape of an iceberg, as if one would have, by circumstances due to the global warming, ended up in the fjord in front of the opera house. A built ruin in best modernistic style, the sculpture on water will stand for a permanent state of erection/construction." (M. Bonvicini)

Sjøflyhavna

Sjøflyhavna Kro er en oase ved vannkanten på Fornebu med utsikt over Oslofjorden. Sjøflyhavna ble bygget på 1940-tallet som ekspedisjonsbygning for sjøflytrafikken. Men behovet for en egen sjøflyhavn viste seg å være overdrevet, så stedet ble omgjort til cafe.

I dag er stedet rehabilitert til et spisested med flott retrospektivt og maritimt miljø. Jeg liker godt stedets spesielle atmosfære og den lekre maten! Prøv feks den kjente Sjøflyburgeren.

Sjøflyhavna Kro har åpent året rundt, nå på vinteren er stedet ypperlig for en søndagsutflukt eller f.eks en lunsj-date.

Elvelangs i fakkellys

Elvelangs er en hyllest til høstjevndøgn, når dag og natt er like lange. Det er en vandring på kveldstid langs Akerselva i Oslo. Fakkelys langs elva lager en spesiell stemning, i tillegg til underholdning og andre lysinnstalasjoner og overraskelser.

The new Oslo Opera House

A must-visit place

The new Opera House has become on of my favourite spots in Oslo. I just love to walk around on its roofs and enjoy the beautiful architecture, the view on the Oslofjord and watch all the people also enjoying this new fantastic attraction.

The Oslo Opera House had its official opening spring 2008. You can visit the amazing building and take a walk on its roofs and look at it from the outside and inside. You can eat at the restaurant while viewing the sea or take a drink in on of the bars, and for a look behind the scenes you can have a guided tour.

It's not only about opera, ballet and rock concerts are also on the program. And occasionally evnts like outdoor-movies and art-exhibitions and festivals are held on the roof of the great builiding.

We will like to guide you trough our city. We will show you photos of well-known places and sights and other maybe more secret places.
This blog is for everybody that are going to Oslo and for those who live in Oslo, for those who loves Oslo and for those who just want to take a look at photos from the city.
About myself, I am born and raised in Oslo. I have also lived other places in Norway and outside this country, but Oslo is the place I call home and always will return back to. I love this city and its diversity and possibilities. I love the fact that you are close to the sea, and close to the woods and hills that are sourrding the city. You can go swimming in the summer and skiing in winter time. Oslo is a small capital, but has the same offers as a big city.
